Quo Vadis
(Whither Goest Thou)

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes ... (REV21:4)

In Mrs. Eddy's own day, she (her writings and teachings) appealed early to Doctors, Lawyers, Judges, Scientists, not merely in alarm, but in as she said, "the time for thinkers (which) has come." Yet we see in the Movement standing alone since, almost a century later, a spreading slack in the race to keep-up with the best: a mothering of harlots to a lesser 'mens' - a severe slant and tendency toward that against which the Bible warns, bring-up the child in the way (he) should go ..., and, sit not (thou) in the seat of (the) scorn(ful): (yet) we see The Monitor (The Christian Scientist's international daily newspaper) fill itself with the blood of saints: mocking and exaggerating and slandering and stereotyping good and devout men and women, (grotesquely) playing-up their foibles which are so easily seen, and stupifying their readers with mock scientificisms: claiming the (The Monitor editors, staff, and correspondents) understand the Principle, yet virtually disclaiming the derivative, the consequence, the constance, the idea of Love. We read there such anomalous phrases as calling a certain man, the "homosexual mathematician" [SIC: no interior comma], as if they knew what either word meant when they individually themselves have given-up and periodically disclaimed such studies, mostly for lack of insight, progress, and competence therein: figuring to escape their own ignorance through their own undisciplined pro-forma study of Scripture, not whereas Mrs. Eddy inculcated thorough perusal, and disclaimed only materia medica for healing, and the serpentine geology of her day: she herself used chemical riddents on vermin - would that they had rescued that one man, but instead they associate evil with good, to their amusement: not even as capable enemies to promote their own ageless mentor. [the phrase is deleted from the internet archives search; yet the same 'CSeM' ca. 7//96, pronounces certain marijuana-smokers as "squeaky clean" candidates for high public office]

We read of strange reverse-psycho-engineering to educate children: they (Monitor staff) pick-up on quirky physicists - hardly representing a moiety of the whole class - and in acquiescent praise amplify (only) their quirks, such as the movie-land debunker who asks his audience why should an outer-space-ship bank into turns when there is no atmosphere to catch its wings - but, we should have answered, if it didn't bank into turns the rider(s) would be thrown sideways against the wall in the turn instead of comfortingly pressed into their seat-rest(s) ... on and on, The Monitor abuses the righteous with mock appreciation: perhap they (writers individually) themselves endured some sad situation of misunderstood allegiance to the Christ (as though the Earth were loyal to the sunlight without recognizing as Mrs. Eddy did in her textbook, the sun's place and centrality) - perhap they meant only that they do in the dark only as (what) they do in the light - can you forgive them that? or are their inner prayer closts yet full of the same junky scornful mock appreciations that they write outwardly?! Their science editor took three tries at explaining the gravity-swing procedure (ca. '86-89) for deep-space-bound space-ships, and finally concluded the planet gave the ship "a kick" - not a very apt ideology in navigation and graduate sciences. That (said) physics lecturer went on to ask whether superman can fly when there is no exhaust seen, yet we might have answered, the Space Shuttle Main Engines burn almost invisibly, and the physicists' favorite neutrino (99% of the energy and power of a stellar supernova) is utterly invisible save one in duo-decillions .... The Monitor seems to be aging - halting between two opinions - the Church Directors are reluctant, even to defiance, to call it, The Christian Science Monitor (res: ca. 1990-92: WORLD MONITOR magazine, and, THE MONITOR CHANNEL television: both now defunct) - such mockery: it should be called as it should be known, The 'Cheese-and-Sinus' Monitor: something to sneeze at, but not around people. (I'm only picking at the fine points, because they're doing so well.)

Seeking good in evil they claim much good, and the evil so much more abounds: friends, do we extract fresh water from addle? it's possible, and it proves a point in Science, but we need not then swim in our own toilets: Mrs. Eddy (once) tried the effects of [certain] drugs she'd received in childhood, and found no effect against her (now) ready thought, and that proved her point, in Science.

And when other (non)-scientist writers disparage the author of Christian Science, do they rally? do the Directors remind that writer that (he) is speaking unmercifully of a 170 year-old woman? a woman who knew the American Civil War? and sought to comfort others after that slaughter (as in Jesus' day there was a great slaughter of children)? in whose days materia medica doctoring was self-appraising and often fraudulent (the days of 'carpet-baggers') when the most pernicious drugs were advertised openly often for healing. Or do they merely offend (retaliate) by advertising Satanic Verses, against Mrs. Eddy's own counsel to not patronize such stores of (ob)noxious literature? Shall we then reprise - Quo Vadis! - goest thou then to whither?

Nevertheless, many await its resurrection, along with Mr. Eustace, its most Trustee'd, restored to the Church in which he [should] belong. [He was not the specific personal Successor to Mrs. Eddy]

The teachings herein are not secularized nor classified: Sunday School pupils, Primary Class students, Normal Class graduates, scholars, researchers, astronomers, scientists, and governments, will find this coursework timely, modern, global, historical, and democratic. The syllabus is the ALMS Program: astronomics, linguistics, mathematics, systematics ... scientific inferentiation on the Holy Biblical Scripture: 'what actually happened'.
